  The Aylmer Arts Council (AAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of visual arts and culture in the community of the city of Gatineau and its surrounding areas.

AAC members include visual artists of all levels - professionals, semi-professionals, and beginners - as well as patrons and friends of art and culture.

Works of art recognized and exhibited by the AAC must be original creations, unique in style and design.

AAC organizes and presents special exhibitions and activities, offers visual arts training to the community and develops workshops for the creative development of its members.

Mandate

The Aylmer Arts Council's mandate evolves with time time and with the needs of its artist members. However, it stays loyal to its founders goal of exhibiting in the Aylmer Sector community and of promoting visual arts and culture in the city of Gatineau and surrounding areas.

AAC's promotional activities extend across the Outaouais in the spirit of encouraging art appreciation and cultural exchange between artists and citizens in the region.

The AAC's mandate is to:

1. Organize programs to showcase member art and encourage the appreciation of artists in the community via special exhibitions and activities;

2. Establish and maintain partnerships with other cultural, artistic, educational and heritage organizations in the community, such as the Centre Culturel du Vieux-Aylmer, Symmes Inn Museum and Grande-Riviere Secondary School, through exchanges, knowledge sharing, representation and contributions.

3. Develop and maintain the highest visual arts standards possible through community classes and special workshops for its members.

To fulfill its mandate, the AAC offers classes advertised in the Culture and Recreation Program Guide of the City of Gatineau, develops special workshops for its members and organizes annual exhibitions to showcase member's work.
