I started experimenting with oil paint in 1977, in my free time, just to see if I had the necessary aptitudes to produce art work. I persevered until 1981, moment when I put my art on hold for a few years because of my family and work obligations. Having never lost my desire to paint, I returned to it in 1992. I enrolled in art classes at the Parc de la Montagne High School (Hull) where I learned to draw my colour chart. I continued to paint and take courses until 1997 where I had to put painting on hold again, for family reasons.
Missing terribly the joy of painting, in 2001 I took it up again. I tried watercolor but oil is the medium I prefer. I draw my inspiration from nature, the spontanious gestures of my grandchildren or people in general. My style is realist and I try to render each detail of a photograph. I like painting using photos I took during my travels. I love the challenge of painting different subjects and being able to capture the beauty of nature all around us.
Now that I am retired, I can spend more time painting, be able to capture the tones of light and shade, add some impressionism to my paintings. Painting is my favorite form of relaxation and well-being. There is nothing better than giving people the desire to visit the locations we are painting or relax and dream about them
