Born in Nijmegen Holland, Maria Allard showed an interest for Arts early in life. Starting with piano and singing. Later in high school, she took Art classes in still life, pastels and portraits. She amused herself drawing sketches of her teachers and classmates.
In Canada she pursued her interest in drawing and in music. Finally, she turns to oil painting, taking lessons at first from the Algonquin College. Subsequently and for a period of twelve years, she is studying oil painting at l’École d’Art du Parc de la Montagne in Hull, Quebec.
Her paintings are for the most part inspired by buildings, forests and lakes from Quebec or mountain scenes from her trips out west while visiting her daughter and family in British Columbia. Others are scenes taken during trips in Canada, Europe, the USA or the Caribbean.
